I got 99p but a Pound ain't One

& since all good things must come to an end, I guess my time in London must come to an end as well. In less than 24 hours I will be on my way to London Heathrow Airport to head back to the States. Not going to lie, its a bittersweet goodbye. Although I'm so excited to see my family and friends, I going to miss London life quite a lot! Since this was the last week of interning, everyone at Felicities gave "The Americans" (Mallory and I) a proper tea party and going away present, which was so sweet of them! Wednesday when we left work for the last time I felt even more sad then I though I would! It made me so thankful for the awesome opportunity I had to intern at Felicities!

Tea time!

So British...

Today was also our last day of classes. I can't believe how fast this trip has gone by! I am going to miss so many things about this amazing city!

Sad faces for our last day :(

Crossing Hemispheres

London, you always exceed my expectations. Thursday was our afternoon trip to Greenwich. I didn't really know what Greenwich was or what would be there but I actually really ended up loving it! We took a tour through the town, went to the Maritime Museum, shopped at the Market, and took pictures crossing the Prime Meridian. I love the fact that I have now spend five weeks in London and have done so many things but I still feel like it would take me another five weeks to see all that this city has to offer.

On friday we decided to head to the Victoria & Albert Museum. I was particularly excited to go to the V&A museum because of the fashion exhibition there. Although there was some cool clothing pieces there, my favorite part of the museum was the jewelry section. It showcased jewelry from the 1800s all the way to the 2000s. The jewels and pieces were absolutely beautiful! The rest of the museum had some really interesting stuff as well but I guess the fashion merchandising major in me just really enjoyed the fashion and jewelry sections the best!

So much bling.

Intern Life

This week at work was one of my favorite work weeks so far! Wednesday was definitely the most fun filled work day so far. Me and Mallory got to come in at 12 because we would be staying later to help out at the Fashion and Textile Museum press preview event later that evening. When we got to Felicities we had a short day of work which included us going and picking up chips (aka french fries) for everyone. After our short day in the office we headed to the Fashion and Textile Museum early to take a look around at the Zandra Rhodes: Unseen exhibit before the press view. It was so cool to get to see the Unseen exhibit and designer Zandra Rhodes herself. Not only has she designed for celebrities like Paris Hilton but also for royalty, such as Princess Diana. The exhibition was so amazing, showcasing all the fabulous dresses, sketches, and displays from Zandra designs.

Por Por Por Por Que?

After this weekend I definitely think I pass as a world traveler. Lauren, Mallory, Shaquita and myself spend the weekend in Girona and Barcelona Spain. Me, Mallory and Lauren flew into Girona where we spend Thursday night. The next day we then took a bus to Barcelona where we met up with Shaquita. Both places were SO much fun! We spend the 4th of July exploring Girona and eating amazing Catalonian food! During our one day visit we walked through the city, toured a beautiful cathedral, walked on top of the wall that surrounds the city of Girona, ate gelato, drank cafe con leche and even went to a rooftop concert at our Hostel. Girona was one of my favorite places I've gone so far and definitely the most beautiful!

After our one night in Girona, we headed out early the next morning to head to Barcelona and meet up with Shaquita. After a morning of traveling we finally met up at our hotel. We spend our first day in Barcelona exploring the streets and city. We walked down the famous La Rambla, took a walk down to the pier and the beach stopped by a food market for lunch and spent the rest of the day exploring. We finished our day with a trip to the Magic Fountains to the fountains light show.

Our Second day we planned on going to tour the Sagrada Familia but decided to settle for pictures of the outside when we arrived to find a 2 hour wait. After Sagrada Familia we decided to grab a lunch and take it to Park Guell where we spend most of the afternoon. This was not the grassy knoll park that we though it would be. It was more a hike to get to the middle of the park, but the view from the top was breathtaking!

The rest of the afternoon we spend relaxing and walking through the streets and little shops. For dinner we walked to the beach and had our last dinner in Barcelona at a restaurant on the beach with our new friend Leah we met at our hostel. And of course we had to get gelato on our last night in Barcelona! The next morning we left early to catch our morning flight home to London. After a weekend of traveling, I have to say I was worn out!

& I Almost Forgot

Somehow I almost forgot to talk about how awesome visiting the British Museum was. Normally I wouldn't choose to spend my day walking around a museum, but the British Museum was full of SO much fascinating history. Much of the historic pieces were from the Roman time period which happens to be my favorite historical time period to learn about. Although our tour didn't cover nearly the whole museum, some of the things I got to see included stones and statues from the Parthenon, the Rosetta Stone, mummies, tombs, and ancient artifacts dating back to 600 BC. One of my favorite things I learned while at the museum was that the 5000 year old mummy gained the nickname "Ginger" because he too was a red head. So far the British Museum was definitely my favorite museum I have been to. The historical significance behind each artifact was so interesting to learn about.
